Luohu to raise its GEP by 4% as of 2025
Luohu has recently released a work plan on raising its Gross Ecological Product, which is the first of its kind in Shenzhen.
According to the plan, the district will raise its GEP by about 4% as of 2025 through improving ecological environment and services, and promoting ecological tourism.
The GEP refers to the assessed value of clear waters and green mountains, which measures the effects and performance of ecological and environmental protection.
In March last year, Shenzhen released the first GEP evaluation system in the country. It contains a series of indexes concerning almost all aspects and ecology, ranging from air and water to soil and environment.
According to its plan, Luohu will take more concrete actions to raise its forest coverage, tackle pollution, save water, improve air quality, and promote clean energy.
