New riverside greenway will be opened in Luohu
A section of a new greenway along the Wutongshan River for children will be opened in Luohu district this October.
The greenway represents Luohu’s latest efforts to accelerate the construction of child-friendly urban areas.
In many of its projects, such as those of urban renewal and ecological protection, the district has actively sought to nurture elements compatible with the requirements of a "child-friendly" environment and opened up as many child-friendly public spaces as possible.
The whole project is due to be completed by the end of the year, and is expected to become a waterfront space for children-centric entertainment and leisure activities.
For children growing up in cities, playing near ecological formations such as rivers is a rare experience. The greenway, which runs along the 3.87-kilometer-long Wutongshan River and flows into Shenzhen Reservoir, will provide the children a broad waterfront helping them to reconnect with nature.
“The family members of our staff have been invited to experience the greenway. The children all had great fun paddling and fishing,” said the project leader Wu Jianhui.
