Luohu seeks breakthroughs in science and technology by 2025
The Luohu district government recently issued its No.1 document which focuses on scientific and technological innovation.
According to Luohu’s development plan, by 2025, the core elements of scientific and technological innovation resources in Luohu should have been effectively gathered; its basic capacity of sci-tech innovation should have made a major breakthrough; its industrial agglomeration should have fostered a distinctive feature; and its innovation system should have been basically formed. In addition, the Dawutong Emerging Industrial Belt should have become an important gathering place for emerging industries in the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao sci-tech innovation corridor by 2025.
Over the next five years, Luohu will advance the construction of three new zones: a new zone of innovation enterprises, a new zone for future sci-tech research and development, and a new zone for sustainable development of science and technology.
In recent years, Luohu has fully implemented its innovation-driven development strategy. Based on the planning and construction of the Dawutong Emerging Industrial Belt, it has focused on the support of artificial intelligence, life and health, and information technology industries. It has also been listed as an innovation node for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen science and technology innovation corridor.
By the end of 2020, the number of strategic emerging enterprises in Luohu had increased to more than 600, with the operation revenue totaling 130 billion yuan ($20.44 billion). The number of national high-tech enterprises also increased from 120 in 2015 to 405 in 2020.
By 2025, Luohu will have formed three core industrial clusters, including the information technology industry, life and health industry, and new material industry.
Yuan Dapu from Luohu Science and Technology Innovation Bureau said, “We will emphasize both attracting and supporting enterprises so as to assist major enterprises in better playing a leading role in innovation. We will build a multi-layer system for enterprises and develop the district into a highland in sci-tech innovation and industrial development.”
By 2025, the basic capacity of scientific and technological innovation of Luohu should have been comprehensively improved; the total number of national high-tech enterprises should have reached 800; more than 20 innovation projects or teams of high-level talents from home and abroad should have been introduced; the number of invention patents per 10,000 people should have reached 40.
“We will foster and improve the funding, talent and innovation chains, and roll out corresponding policies to aid the technology enterprises in Luohu in realizing leapfrog development,” Yuan added.
