Luohu’s serve-the-people projects acclaimed
Several representatives of Shenzhen residents have visited the Luohu district administrative service hall recently in an activity organized by Shenzhen municipal authorities.
The visitors gained first-hand experience and knowledge on how the district has taken advantage of advanced information technology to serve the people and what the district has done to promote the construction of a smart city.
The visitors all spoke highly of what Luohu has achieved in this regard after the visit. In particular, how the district government has used big data to launch the parking lots sharing project, which makes full use of the limited parking space to achieve multi-win results.
To make car parking easier, Luohu has coordinated resources of all stakeholders to create a platform for sharing parking space.
Thanks to the application of advanced information technology, the parking space sharing project has produced its intended effects, as the people find it easier to park cars near their home at night thanks to the opening of the parking lots in the office buildings and shopping centers nearby. And office clerks, shopping assistants, and waiters can park their cars in the neighborhood parking lots at any time in the day.
The project now covers 382 parking lots across the district, which have more than 30,000 parking spaces in total. It is estimated that nearly 160,000 drivers benefit from the project.
The project also customizes the parking space sharing rules for the areas near schools and hospitals, which have been implemented in the areas near three schools and two hospitals.
After learning about the project, a man surnamed Chen, who visited the government service hall, said: “This is a good project. As such, parking cars will be easier. The sharing parking space platform helps realize rational distribution and usage of resources. This is real sharing that brings tangible benefits to the people.”
In addition, Luohu has also paid special attention to improving the work efficiency of its government departments. The district government uses big data and artificial intelligence technology to push customized government services to individual citizens registering on its online government service platforms.
Also, the grassroots government departments at the neighborhood level have also taken the initiative to visit homes of residents in need, such as elderly citizens living alone.
So far, 23 kinds of government affairs in eight fields, including civil affairs, public health, and enterprise services, have been included in this customized government service platform, which has provided services more than 500,000 times since it was launched.
Thanks to the infiltration of the thoughtful services into the neighborhoods, the share of elder citizens applying for advanced-age subsidies had risen from 75% to nearly 90%, and the number of senior citizens accessing free physical exams, and free cancer screening had risen more than 70% and nearly 60%, respectively, compared with that before the service platform was launched.
A woman surnamed Jiang said: “These services are so considerate that they meet the people’s practical needs. The residents are so lucky.”
The aforementioned two projects, which have been widely reported by mainstream media outlets in the country as model efforts, epitomize Luohu’s efforts to take full advantage of technologies to serve the people and improve its government work efficiency.
