Luohu establishes its first national-level institute
The National Science and Technology Institute (Base) for Urban Security Development was established in Shenzhen’s Luohu district recently.
On the same day, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the Shenzhen municipal government signed a co-building cooperation agreement regarding the institute.
This is the first national-level institute founded in Luohu. As an important science and technology research platform, the institute is expected to provide significant intellectual support for Luohu in terms of urban security, promote the construction of the whole-industrial chain and industrial cluster, form an innovation-driven industrial development system and generate both economic and social benefits.
Led by Yue Qingrui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the institute will incorporate urban security monitoring and early warning lab, engineering research center, remote sensing urban space technology department, and technology innovation center. It aims to become a first-class institute of its kind at home and an advanced institute in the world.
The technology innovation center under construction will be the 12th national technology innovation center and the first national technology innovation center that Shenzhen has operated independently.
The institute is expected to help Luohu strengthen its urban security industrial chain, promote the agglomeration of city security research innovation factors in the district, and foster the development of more than 100 innovation enterprises, five listed companies, and a large enterprise with an annual output value of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion).
Luohu hopes that the institute can help expand its relevant industrial scale, promote the development of the urban security industry, and form a whole-industrial chain and large-scale industry clusters related to urban security.
