Students encouraged to fight for bright future at start of new semester
A new semester started for primary and middle school students in Luohu on Feb. 21. However, due to the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic, students are staying home and learning online for the time being.
Headteachers of the schools gave speeches in the online opening ceremony.
Most of them referred to the slogan of the just-concluded Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, encouraging the students to work hard for a shared future.
Guo Yuzhu, principal of Shenzhen Cuiyuan High School, said that young people should have a clear target, high morality, good ability, and a sense of responsibility.
He said that the students should follow the trends of times, love the country and people, cherish time, and make progress every day.
Zhou Xiaorong, headmaster of Shenzhen Cuiyuan Junior Middle School, reviewed the achievements of the school in 2021, and reminded the students and teachers that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China would be held this year. Therefore, they should work hard to contribute to national rejuvenation.
He called on the students to balance study and physical exercise as well as physical health and mental health.
Xiao Li, headmistress of Shenzhen Buxin Primary School, gave the students and teachers three suggestions of trying to be kind to the world, be positive to challenges, and persevere with their dreams.
Tang Xueru, headteacher of Shenzhen Bibo Primary School, said that the students should love the country, exploration and sports, and be confident and hardworking.
He pointed out that only when people work hard when they are young can they cope with all kinds of setbacks and hardships in the future.
These principals also reminded students and teachers of abiding by the pandemic prevention and control rules and prioritize their safety and health while staying at home.
