Luohu forms united front against COVID-19
The resurgence of the novel coronavirus epidemic in Shenzhen has prompted many in the Luohu district to put themselves forward to fight against the virus and protect the people.
Starting from Jan. 7, the Luohu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine prepared some herbal medicine decoctions to help people prevent colds and sent it to the epidemic prevention and control staff on the front line in the district.
The hospital also provides residents with the decoction for free in the hope that it can help them enhance their immunity. In addition, the person in charge of the hospital said that the hospital would continuously offer the services for the epidemic prevention and control staff.
A community worker surnamed Li and his colleagues who worked in a nucleic acid test booth in the Aoxia neighborhood said they have worked continuously for six and seven days. It is heartwarming to have the decoction in the cold winter. He said that he would stick to the post and work hard with his colleagues.
In the Aoxia community, the community workers helped a four-year-old who got lost find his parents on the evening of Jan. 12.
After finding the helpless and wailing child, the community workers tried to comfort him, which helped calm him down soon. They immediately shared the information in their workgroup on social media, mobilizing all of their co-workers in the community to look for the child’s families.
It did not take long for the anxious parents to come to look for the child. “I appreciate your help. I learned my lessons and will take good care of the child in the future,” the child’s parent said to the community workers.
A retired soldier called by others as Uncle Song comes to the nucleic acid test stations in the Wenjin community every morning by subway. He works as a volunteer guiding the people queuing up and reminding them to keep a distance of 1 meter at least from each other in the queue.
In the evening, when other community workers persuade him to go home and have a rest, he often waves his hand and says: “There are still many people waiting there now. I am familiar with the work process to keep order. I need to stick to my post so that they can finish it early. I am a Party member and a veteran soldier. No worry, my physical condition is excellent!”
The community workers recalled their first encounter with Song. Several days ago, when there was a lack of hands to organize the residents to take vaccines, Uncle Song accidentally saw it and volunteered to help. From then on, he came to work as a volunteer every day.
In the battle against the epidemic, the epidemic prevention and control workers and community volunteers have been working hard all night to guard their posts and protect the safety and health of the people with perseverance and courage. They make the winter less cold, and their devotion also consolidates the residents’ confidence that the virus can be tamed at an early date.
