Luohu takes prompt actions to fight against COVID-19
After Shenzhen reported two locally transmitted cases of the novel coronavirus on Jan. 7, the Luohu district took prompt actions to trace their close contacts, cut the transmission chains and conduct nucleic acid tests covering all residents.
The district government demarcated the lockdown area, control area, and prevention area.
The prevention area is encircled by the Buxin Road in the north, the Cuizhu Road in the east, the Tianbeisan Road in the south, and the Wenjin North Road in the west. About 26,000 people are living in 184 buildings located in the area. According to the rules, people must show certificates of negative results of the nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 that they obtained within the previous 48 hours to enter or leave the area.

However, a businessman in Shuibei said that his company is still running as normal, and all employees have to show their healthy code on the smartphone before entering the office building. "Although the impact on the business is evident, we must carry on with life," he said.
A commuter told the media at the Shuibei Railway Station in Shuibei that although the company allows its employees to work at home, she prefers to work in the office, carrying her 48-hour nucleic acid test report.
"The only big change is that I cannot come to the office along my usual route. Instead, I need to take a detour to avoid the affected areas," she said.
In a fresh food supermarket, a senior citizen who comes to Shenzhen to see his son said the vegetable price is no different from before. "Everything is fine."

On the morning of Jan. 10, the eighth of the 12th month on the lunar calendar, people usually have porridge as a traditional food to mark the day, or porridge festival, the epidemic prevention and control staff working on the front line in Shuibei received porridge gifted by some enterprises.
A representative of one of the enterprises said they were moved by the hard work of the epidemic prevention and control staff and felt happy that people were cooperative with their work. He hoped that the porridge could bring them warmth and power in the cold winter.
In Jiabei of Luohu, local volunteers presented the epidemic prevention and control staff working on the front line with coffee. In addition, they wrote some heart-warming words on stickers attached to each cup to ease the staff members' anxiety and tension.
Zhou Xianzhen, 65, volunteered to work on the epidemic prevention and control front line at a nucleic acid test booth in her neighborhood. She said other colleagues inspired her. "I am not tired. I hope I can do something for the community at this critical moment."
Zhong Huiming, a grassroots civil servant of Dongmen in Luohu, celebrated her birthday on Jan. 9 at a nucleic acid test booth in the neighborhood she works in. She said the birthday was meaningful and memorable.
