COVID-19 daily update (Jan. 19)
Shenzhen reported one locally transmitted COVID-19 case and one imported asymptomatic case yesterday.
Case 18 involves a 32-year-old cleaner at a hotel where international flight crews stay. The female patient had been under closed-loop management – meaning she worked and lived in designated locations – for the last 14 days.
From Jan. 1 to 14, the patient’s daily routine nucleic acid test results were all negative. On Jan. 14, she switched shifts and went to a quarantine hotel for centralized medical observation where one nucleic acid test was required every two days.
On Sunday, her nucleic acid test was still negative, but when she took a nucleic acid test yesterday, it yielded a positive preliminary result. Her latest test result, reviewed by the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) early this morning, was also positive. She has been sent to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment and was diagnosed as a confirmed COVID case (common type).
The imported asymptomatic case involves a Chinese citizen who flew to Shenzhen from Singapore on Jan. 16 and was quarantined upon entry. The patient has been sent to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
