Civil servants put themselves forward in fight against COVID-19
Following the call of the Luohu district government, the Luohu bureau of housing and urban-rural development has acted quickly to support the fight against the novel coronavirus on the front line since locally transmitted cases were reported in Shenzhen on Jan. 7.
The bureau dispatched 77 people to assist with nucleic acid tests and other epidemic prevention and control work in the jurisdictions of the Liantang, Donghu, Dongxiao, and Qingshuihe sub-district offices.
In recent days, the 20-people squad in Dongxiao has worked in Lyujing and Caopudong communities. Residents speak highly of their commitment and dedication to their duties and the perseverance they demonstrated facing difficulties.
The Caopudong community is a typical village in the city, formed by four villages, Xinwuxia, Xiawei, Xiawu, and New Qingshuihe, and home to more than 20,000 people in over 600 buildings. It is next to the jurisdictions of the Buji and Qingshuihe sub-district offices, where new cases were reported, so there were many nucleic acid tests to do. Nevertheless, despite the shortage of hands, thanks to the help of the bureau's civil servants, good order was maintained during the resurgence of the virus.
Five women of the "bureau squad" — Qiu Yilin, Hu Juan, Yang Zhaoxia, Wang Yuan and Yu Xinxi — were quite eye-catching, shuttling in crowds with paper-made loudspeakers in hands, as they volunteered to work as guides for the villagers so that they can wait in queues with patience for their turn to take the test. The villagers praised their thoughtfulness and readiness for helping.
The "bureau squad" also opened green channels for the elderly and ill people, pregnant women, and people with disabilities to take the nucleic acid test. The users of the green channels said they felt the warmth of spring in the cold winter.
