City reports two new confirmed COVID cases
Shenzhen reported two new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases yesterday.
Case 16 is a 24-year-old woman who lives and works in Longgang District. She is Case 2’s colleague and lives in Guangyayuancun, Bantian Subdistrict. She was put under quarantine as a close contact Jan. 7 and was diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID (common type).
Case 17 is a 21-year-old woman who works and lives in Longgang District and is mainly engaged in receiving and delivering overseas frozen chemical reagents. She lives in Lanyi Village, Baolong Subdistrict. The case was discovered in the third round of nucleic acid screening in Pingshan District on Saturday and was diagnosed as a mild case of COVID-19. The genome sequencing results showed that she was infected with the Omicron variant.The two cases have been transferred to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment and are in stable condition. The tracing of their close contacts and secondary contacts are underway. Their neighborhoods and workplaces have been placed under lockdown, and all related key areas have been disinfected.
As of midnight yesterday, Shenzhen had reported a total of 17 cases in the latest COVID resurgence in the city. The city will continue to update citizens with COVID-related information, and citizens are reminded to practice good hygiene, avoid gatherings and cooperate for health management.
