SZ reports 2 new COVID cases; 14 infections in total
Shenzhen reported two new cases of COVID-19 last night, bringing the total number of infections in the latest COVID resurgence in the city to 14 as of the end of yesterday, according to the municipal health authority.
Case 13 is a 42-year-old woman who works in a diner in Caopu Community in Qingshuihe Subdistrict, Luohu District, and lives in Jihua Subdistrict, Longgang District. She went to the Second People’s Hospital of Shenzhen in Futian District to seek emergency treatment at noon on Tuesday.
The hospital issued a notice yesterday afternoon, announcing the suspension of the outpatient and emergency medical services. But its internet hospital will continue to operate normally.
A preliminary investigation showed that the new infection belongs to the same transmission chain of the 12 other COVID cases reported in the city since Friday.
As of 8 p.m. yesterday, 2,098 close contacts and 2,625 secondary close contacts of the 13 COVID cases had been put under health monitoring.
Case 14 is a 41-year-old woman who works at a supermarket in Longgang District, and lives in Hewei Village of Caopuxi Community in Qingshuihe Subdistrict, Luohu District. She is the wife of case 11 and has been previously put under centralized quarantine as a close contact.

The woman has been transferred to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment, and is in stable condition.
Screening of the patient’s close contacts and secondary close contacts are under way, while her neighborhood and workplace have been placed under lockdown.
Residents are reminded to strengthen personal precautions against the virus by wearing face masks properly, washing hands frequently, maintaining good ventilation, avoiding crowded places and observing social distancing.
