Luohu to showcase its innovation development achievements in annual hi-tech fair
The Luohu district government introduced the high-tech achievements it will showcase during the 23rd China Hi-Tech Fair at a biweekly news conference held on Dec. 23. The Fair will take place at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29.
The district government has invited 15 enterprises in key industries to partake in the fair.
Themed “brand-new Luohu and smart manufacturing,” Luohu’s exhibition booth covers an area of 204 square meters, exhibiting new products and science and technology research achievements in software and information technology, overall health, safety and emergency response, and energy conservation and environmental protection, according to Zhang Lin, deputy director of the Luohu Science and Technology Innovation Bureau.
“Over the recent years, Luohu has made remarkable achievements in sci-tech innovation. It has built the Dawutong emerging industrial belt, and supported the development of artificial intelligence, bio-health, and information technology industry,” Zhang said.
Luohu has been included in the Guangzhou-Shenzhen science and technology innovation corridor. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) , the number and revenue of strategic emerging enterprises in the district increased to nearly 600 and 130 billion yuan ($20.4 billion), respectively, up 200% and 333% compared with 2016.
Over the same period, the number of in-force patents in Luohu has increased from 1,130 to 2,437, and its spending on research and development has swelled five times, with the input being 1.25 billion yuan last year alone, accounting for 0.54% of its GDP that year.
"A sound industrial policy system and effective investment attraction, enterprise service, and incubation mechanisms are constantly driving the innovative development of Luohu," Zhang said.
Over the next five years, the district will continually upgrade its industries and services. It will develop the future industry of blockchain and seven industrial clusters of software and information services, intelligent terminals, digital creativity, modern fashion, new materials, overall health, energy saving and environmental protection.
In addition, Luohu will further invest in sci-tech innovation industries, provide supporting policies to attract investment and prominent enterprises, offer more land for industrial purposes, and build intelligent service platforms to boost the district’s high-tech development, Zhang noted.
