Shenzhen International Photography Week opens at Luohu Art Gallery
The 4th Shenzhen International Photography Week 2021 opened at the Luohu Art Gallery on Dec. 20.
The event was co-hosted by Shenzhen Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports Bureau, Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Luohu District People’s Government.
Several officials of Shenzhen and Luohu, photographers, and relevant experts attended the event’s opening ceremony, including Zhan Hui, deputy district mayor of the Luohu district government, Liang Yu, chair of the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Wang Chen, vice chair of China Photographers Association (CPA).
Founded in Luohu in 2014, the Shenzhen International Photography Week acts as a platform to share photography from around the world and promote exchange among photographers and artists. Following the philosophy of staging international-oriented photography exhibitions with high artistic and academic value, the event also aims to drive the development of photography and related industries.
Organizers of the activity said that despite restrictions for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, the activity opened thanks to the meticulous arrangements. They added that as this year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the activity was held not only to commemorate the anniversary, but also to demonstrate China’s confidence in its culture.
Sun Chengyi, chief curator of the photography exhibition, noted that more than 6,000 photographic works from 42 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, were received, from which 580 pieces were selected following the principle of openness, fairness, transparency, innovation and international orientation.
The Photography Week includes display of excellent works, exhibition of classic originals by celebrated photographers, and presentation of outstanding pieces about Luohu.
Zhang Tongsheng, a counselor at the CPA, said Shenzhen gives him a good impression, which testifies to the exhibition’s positive effects in improving the city’s image and enhancing its influences.
