Makers’ festival a chance to inspire youth to pursue innovation
The opening ceremony of the 4th makers’ festival for primary and middle schools in Luohu kicked off in Cuiyuan Experimental School on Nov 21.
The festival is jointly hosted by the Luohu Education Bureau, Luohu Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, Luohu Association for Science and Technology, and the Luohu District Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
More than 3,000 students and teachers from different schools in the district took part in the ceremony, which provided them with an opportunity to appreciate the charms of science and technology.
In his address for the opening ceremony, Yin Gang, chief of Luohu Education Bureau, said that the bureau’s work will be oriented by the schools’ needs and the students’ interests, and the bureau will actively organize more activities related to science and technology innovation.
The district has vowed to build itself into an innovation district for smart education, promote the application of advanced technologies in education, and encourage young people to pursue innovations in science and technology.
The festival includes exhibitions, experience activities, and competitions of various kinds, including ones featuring drones and artificial intelligence. It is estimated that more than 4,000 people will be attracted to take part in these activities.
Apart from Cuiyuan Experimental School, six other schools are acting as parallel venues for these activities in Luohu.
These activities were evaluated as a model pro-innovation project of Shenzhen in 2019.
