Luohu procuratorate holds anti-smuggling seminar for diamond enterprises
The Luohu District People’s Procuratorate hosted a seminar publicizing Shenzhen’s anti-smuggling compliance for the city’s diamond trade, attracting more than 400 business owners across the industry.
The purpose of the seminar was to guard against enterprises engaging in diamond smuggling activities and encourage them to operate lawfully.
In March, the Luohu District People’s Procuratorate began to explore the anti-smuggling compliance matters for the diamond industry. It has analyzed various diamond smuggling cases and introduced measures to ensure compliance, in cooperation with relevant government departments and institutions.
During the seminar, Zhang Yao, deputy director of the second procuratorate department of the Luohu District People’s Procuratorate, emphasized the importance of the lawful operations of enterprises and voiced the authority’ commitment to dealing with illegal diamond trading.
Zhang Bin, acting procurator-general and Party chief of the Luohu District People’s Procuratorate, noted that Shenzhen has strengthened compliance for its industries and that operating lawfully is of vital importance to the diamond industry as a whole.
According to Zhang, the procuratorate departments should address loopholes in the anti-diamond smuggling compliance, and urge the enterprises involved in illegal activities to rectify any problems in this regard.
More seminars on enterprise compliance will be held to introduce relevant experience and encourage enterprises to follow the regulations and laws, Zhang said.
