Luohu Primary School’s new library opens
Luohu Primary School held a ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the founding of the school branch of Chinese Young Pioneers and the opening of its new library.
Local government officials, including Luohu education bureau chief Yin Gang, attended the event.
During his address, Yin noted that the opening of the new library epitomizes the district’s efforts to promote book reading on campus.
He said that schools should be bastions of upholding prevalent values and helping students foster better moral standards and appreciation of fine culture.
Yin encouraged the students to internalize the meaning of the red scarf they wear as a member of the Young Pioneers, and to study hard and exercise regularly in preparation for a meaningful and fulfilling life.
After watching a martial arts performance by the students, the officials paid a visit to the new library where some pupils were reading Chinese literature classics, which is just one of the ways through which the school is bringing its students closer to traditional Chinese culture.
There was also an award ceremony for after-school counselors spanning various fields, including customs, healthcare and government departments.
Since 2017, with the help of the Luohu district government, Luohu Primary School has built its library and new activity rooms on land reclaimed from former commercial properties.
Students taking part in the event said they realize that a happy life is hard to come by and they are committed to becoming valuable members of the society in the future.
