Cybersecurity takes center stage at Luohu's biweekly news conference
The Luohu district government held a biweekly news conference focusing on cybersecurity on Oct. 11. The event coincides with the start of 2021 China Cybersecurity Week.
Lin Haofeng, deputy head of the publicity department of the Luohu District Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the cyberspace administration of Luohu presided over the conference, along with Dong Xiaofei, deputy squad leader of the anti-fraud task force of a criminal police brigade in Luohu , and Chen Jia’neng, head of the financial promotion department of Luohu financial service agency.
Together, they introduced Luohu’s cybersecurity protection system and provided insights into common scams perpetrated by telecom fraudsters, while explaining the latest “1+N” financial program the government has been rolling out to protect and support people’s livelihoods and business.
The Luohu authorities have made meaningful progress in boosting cybersecurity and building a cybersecurity defensive network, Lin said.
The cybersecurity system of Luohu is “woven” together by different departments, including public security, administrative data, education and sub-district offices, under the guidance of the district’s cyberspace administration.
What’s more, the cybersecurity achievements have been included in local government’s performance assessments.
The district has reinforced its internet security across various critical information infrastructures, such as facilities handling government affairs, medical treatment, education and other key areas.
Data reveals that Luohu has examined more than 900 district websites and information systems to screen potential loopholes and problems this year alone, and has identified and helped 110 enterprises resolve hidden security hazards.
In addition, Luohu prioritizes educating the public about network security, especially among younger generations. In the district, activities have been organized encouraging parents to strengthen communication with their children about cybersecurity.
Dong said people should realize that telecom fraud does not discriminate on the basis of age or educational background, and offered suggestions to avoid telecom and cyber fraud.
The district also asked residents to take part in diverse activities of the “1+N” financial program to improve financial literacy and protect themselves from financial fraud.
