A jewelry exhibition opened Sept. 22 as part of the 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair, which officially takes place Sept. 23 to 27.

Lv Manni, head of the publicity department of the Luohu District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Xue Jiang, chief of the Luohu culture, radio, television, tourism and sports bureau, and senior executives of the Shenzhen Jewelry Group attended the event along with representatives of other companies and institutions.

The exhibition was organized by the Shenzhen Shuibei Jewelry Group, who’s helmed the event for the past 16 years.

Lu Lihang, chairperson of the executive board of the group, said the company hopes it can use jewelry art as a point of departure for larger cultural conversations and exchanges between China and the world.

Lu Senrong, the group’s president, signed a cooperation agreement with NGTC Education, marking the start of a collaboration to serve as a stage to promote Chinese jewelry culture.

Meanwhile, an IBC world jewelry wall was displayed at the exhibition. It consists of more than 170 kinds of gems sourced from more than 30 countries and regions, totaling some 75 million carats. The gem wall weighs a collective 15 tons, and was built to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, which falls on Oct. 1.

Apart from the jewelry exhibition, Luohu hosted a show of traditional Chinese clothing, another immensely popular event during the cultural industries fair.
