As more and more teachers in Shenzhen get excellent grades in their own right, Luohu’s educator and faculty reforms are producing high-quality developments for the sector at large.

The district regards education as a crucial public good that stands at the heart of its ability to compete. As such, it has implemented a series of initiatives to ensure that education continues to thrive.

In March, the Luohu district government published a three-year action plan for basic education. A core part of that plan is personnel training to bolster the professional development of principals and teachers, with the goal of ensuring that the scale, structure, quality and ability of teachers can fully meet the practical needs of students and families.

Luohu is already home to renowned teachers and principals and intends to provide more teacher training for educators from kindergartens through private schools, which will cultivate a standard of excellence.

Yin Gang, chief of the Luohu Education Bureau, said that as the district deepens its education reforms, so too is it realizing the highly-quality development of the sector, which in turn creates better growth opportunities for young teachers.

Aside from traditional teaching models, Luohu also actively promotes the use of cutting-edge education technologies, and teachers have been embracing those technologies to enhance their work.

Meanwhile, Luohu is taking concrete actions to foster cooperative relationships with the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions. The district has established unique platforms to facilitate exchanges between teachers from the three sides.

For instance, Luohu provides public housing for young teachers who can either live in the accommodations for one to three years free of charge or pay government-subsidized rent.

Yin said that Luohu is continuously developing better ways to provide opportunities and platforms for the growth of teachers and principals while sparing no effort to promote the construction of teacher development programs in demonstration zones.

“We will strive to build Luohu education into a pilot area of quality education, smart education, teacher development, and polish the new brand of education in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and make new and greater contributions to the construction of Luohu as an all-embracing hub of the GBA,” he added.
