Luohu’s efforts to pursue high-quality developments in education paid off
In a recent evaluation of equitable education across the top 100 county-level jurisdictions, Luohu ranked seventh.
The evaluation was administered by Xiaokang magazine, which commissioned various authoritative and professional agencies in the field. All told, the joint survey and research of education equity looked at 2,757 county-level jurisdictions across the Chinese mainland.
The evaluation and analyses were based on data and information pulled from the internet, public surveys, field research in the counties and expert opinion.
The main criteria consisted of 120 indexes, including the coverage of compulsory education, enrollment rates of migrant workers’ children, access to education for ethnic minorities and more.
Luohu has prioritized the development of its education sector in recent years. For instance, the majority of the district government’s public spending goes to education, and prime real estate in the district is earmarked for schools and kindergartens.
The Luohu district government’s ethos is “offering education that the people are satisfied with,” and has a robust education sector to show for it.
Such efforts include building more schools to ensure that a campus is within close proximity to every citizen, offering after-school services and summer services and ensuring traffic safety near schools.
What’s more, Luohu has been on the frontline of using advanced technology to bolster its education institutions and offers plenty of training opportunities for faculty.
In March 2021, the district government rolled out a three-year action plan to fully realize the high-quality development of education. According to the document, Luohu will work to build another 23 kindergartens with 8,000 seats while adding more than 30,000 school seats by building and expanding 34 campuses.
