A seminar on COVID-19 lab testing technology and products was held in the Luohu Hospital Group on Aug. 27.
The seminar was hosted by the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, and organized by the medical testing center of the Luohu Hospital Group. Participants included public health experts, researchers and officials, including Zhou Liping, director of the science and education department of the commission, Sun Xizhuo, president of the group, and Zhang Xiuming, vice president of the group and director of the testing center.
In her opening speech, Zhou said that given the group’s unique contribution to COVID-19 testing in Luohu district, the commission has decided to establish a COVID-19 testing technology and product verification base to serve the city of Shenzhen within the group.
The main responsibilities of the base include supporting research and development of relevant enterprises while providing the city’s epidemic prevention and control departments with reference information.
Zhou hopes that the Luohu Hospital Group can coordinate with medical agencies, institutes and enterprises across the city to provide ongoing professional advice, adding that government departments overseeing the science and technology sectors, market regulation and medical insurance will provide additional support.
Experts said that the establishment of the verification base will boost the research and development of COVID-19 testing technology and products in Shenzhen.
During the seminar, representatives of several companies introduced their latest products and technologies related to COVID-19 testing.
Sun said that the verification base will become a platform for research and exchanges that serve enterprises, medical agencies, government and society.
Sun said that the Luohu Hospital Group will spare no effort to provide enough personnel and space for the verification base, hoping that all relevant departments can work together to support its operations, so that the enterprises can bolster the city’s epidemic prevention and control work.
