Luohu applies AI to address chronic problems in urban management
Under the guidance of the Luohu district government affairs data administration, as of late August, the technology firm SenseTime has been piloting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies aimed towards smart city management for the past three months.
Based on SenseFoundry, an open platform for city management developed by SenseTime, the company has successfully identified 17 problems related to city management, such as disorderly parking of shared bicycles and road waterlogging, and provided solutions based on AI technologies, which allows for “automatic discovery, timely intervention and prompt solution.”
Over the past three months, the platform has helped identify and address nearly 50,000 such problems, with a success rate of more than 90%.
City management problems are often one complaint source of citizens. Conventionally, it relies heavily on the patrol of city management staff, resident reports and surveillance cameras to discover and address the problems.
Nevertheless, the AI platform has made finding solutions to problems significantly more efficient. What’s more, it's able to function around the clock, regardless of environmental and climate conditions.
The Luohu district government hopes that such advanced technologies can help resolve these problems and improve its governance. Likewise, the district is positioning itself as a demonstration zone in the country for using AI technologies to revolutionize city management.
