Shopping festival a chance for Luohu to boost and upgrade consumption
Shenzhen’s annual shopping season of 2021 kicked off on Aug 6. As a district strong in commerce and trade, Luohu will take this opportunity to boost its consumption and upgrading its consumption industry.
In the first half of this year, the total retail sales of consumer goods of the Luohu district surged 36.1% year-on-year, 12.9 percentage points higher than the city’s average.
According to the bureau of commerce of Luohu, the district will promote the use of digital renminbi, online consumption map, which will locate hot shops and eateries on it, and government-funded coupons worth of 5 million yuan during the shopping festival.
It will also organize different kinds of pro-consumption activities in gold and jewelry, clothes and automobile industries. For example, the district will organize a jewelry shopping carnival where 200 leading jewelry companies will launch their new products.
Luohu pays special attention to combining the renovation project of the Dongmen pedestrian street with the development of nighttime economy.
Luohu encourages shopping malls to offer discounts at night to stimulate the development of the night economy, and many popular restaurants will set the stage for livestreaming hosts to promote their business.
It will also organize exhibitions of fashionable toys and robots, cosplay shows and e-sports games to meet the needs of young people—the major consumption group of the night economy.
These activities show that Luohu is trying to diversify its consumption patterns, upgrade its consumption sector, and develop its night economy.
The three-month 2021 shopping season involves more than 100 shopping areas, more than 1,000 brands and over 500 offline consumption experience activities, with the total discounts expected to hit more than 1 billion yuan ($154.3 million).
