In an evaluation of the top 100 districts and county-level cities with the most prosperous night economy in China, Luohu ranked eighth this year in terms of the vitality of the night economy.
The night economy refers to economic activities that occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
As a pioneer in the country’s reform and opening-up policies, Luohu has set numerous records. For example, the district has been home to the first land auction and the first commercial residential building in China.
As one of the most active night economic hubs of Shenzhen, Luohu has released a special work plan to further promote its night economy by innovating its development model and cultivating new business modes.
The district government encourages businesses to increase their cultural and entertainment goods and services and launch more promotional activities to boost consumption. The aim is to make Luohu a regional center for the night economy in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
According to the work plan, Luohu should try and create new development modes for the night economy in the “golden triangle” area formed by Caiwuwei, Renmin Nan, and Dongmen. Luohu also encourages shops in Sungang and Shuibei-Buxin to extend their opening hours and provide additional retail discounts at night.
In addition, the government incentivizes catering, cultural, and tourism industries to develop their own characteristics, brands, and improve their services and influence.
The Dongmen pedestrian street is an exemplary night economy street famous for its restaurants and entertainment. Meanwhile, the Dongmen area is focusing on developing entertainment that includes immersive virtual games, amusement parks, and other projects.
Chen Xiaojun, director of Luohu enterprise service center, said that the district government is committed to providing thoughtful services to enterprises, and creating a first-class business environment in a bid to attract more investment and consolidate businesses’ confidence in Luohu.
