Luohu commended for work related to disabled persons
The disabled persons work committee of the State Council, China’s Cabinet, issued a decision on July 15 praising advanced units and individuals for their excellent work related to disabled persons.
A total of 200 units and 399 individuals nationwide were commended, with the disabled persons work committee of the Luohu district government being the only unit in Shenzhen to win the honorary title of “national advanced unit for disabled persons work.”
The disabled persons work committee of the Luohu district government has issued the first development plan for barrier-free urban areas at the district level in the country.
The committee also explores setting up a barrier-free public interest litigation system.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), Luohu entered Shenzhen’s first honor roll for its achievements in the construction of a barrier-free city.
Statistics show the basic medical care security network covers more than 3,500 disabled persons in Luohu, and all disabled children in the district can receive education either in schools or at home. The government has also organized training for the employment and overall quality of disabled people.
The Luohu district government also plans to build a comprehensive base for rehabilitation and employment training for disabled people in the area.
