Luohu sets up commercial dispute resolution center to nip issues in the bud
On the morning of Aug. 4, Luohu opened its first commercial dispute resolution center in Caiwuwei.
The center represents Luohu’s latest efforts to resolve commercial disputes before they’re brought to court, as the district looks towards rolling out a commercial dispute resolution model that can be followed elsewhere in the city of Shenzhen.
Essentially, the Caiwuwei pilot program will settle commercial disputes quickly and thoroughly by providing residents and the businesses that serve them with convenient, streamlined means to resolve issues through public legal services.
According to Lai Wu, deputy secretary of the CPC Luohu Committee, by setting up the resolution center in Caiwuwei, a major commercial zone, mediators will be able to address problems at the root.
Furthermore, he urged the public, especially the businessmen, to actively use the system, which will ultimately improve the business environment and market regulation for all.
Lai hopes that Caiwuwei will provide Shenzhen with a model that can be replicated citywide, to reduce the number of lawsuits filed and improve grassroots governance.
Lai spoke during a ceremony marking the founding of the center that was attended by representatives of Luohu's 10 sub-district offices as well as members of the Luohu District People’s Congress and the business sector, etc.
Hu Zhiguang, deputy president of Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, stressed the importance of identifying and managing the origin of lawsuits.
Liu Chuwen, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Guiyuan Sub-district, said that the grassroots government will assume a more active role in helping to settle commercial disputes by educating the public about the laws.
With businessmen in attendance, the Luohu court also gave an introduction on how the commercial dispute resolution center will function.
