More seats in better schools Luohu objective
Luohu has taken many concrete measures to improve quality of its public education, and increase school seats.
Yin Gang, Luohu education chief, told the media that, in the forthcoming five years, Luohu would add 350,000 seats in public primary and junior middle schools, and 9,000 seats of preschool education, and continue to focus on all-round education, smart education, training of teachers, and efficient education management.
Luohu has vowed to become a national famous district for its high-quality, inclusive and affordable education by 2025.
Statistics show it spent more than 33% of its general public budget expenditure between 2015 and 2020 on education.
The Luohu district government employed Guo Yuzhu, former headmaster assistant of the Shenzhen Middle School, as head of the district’s institute of education sciences, and signed strategic cooperation agreement with the Shenzhen Middle School last year.
Yin said Luohu would continue to support the development of the four public high schools and two private high schools in the district.
He said Cuiyuan Middle School should become a prestigious school in not only Shenzhen but also the entire Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; the Luohu Foreign Language School should become a model of education internationalization; Luohu High School will enjoy full support of the government to become a specialist school in science and technology; the Fine Arts School of Luohu should give a full play to its strength in fine art education and become a specialist high school in education of the arts.
Last year, Luohu selected 40 headmasters and deputy headmasters to strengthen the management team of the schools, and the district plans to cultivate 30 excellent headmasters, 30 excellent school-level executives and 60 excellent middle-level executives of school over the next three years.
Over the past few years, Luohu has attracted 84 teachers from across the country, as well as 34 doctoral degree holders, and set up a sciences doctorate work station.
Yin said the district planned to attract more talents in teaching and education management in the future according to the practical needs of the development of its education sector, and the district authorities are making relevant policies to improve Luohu’s attractions in this regard.
