Art exhibition "This is Dongmen" is being held from Feb. 19 to Feb. 26 in the Siyue Academy of Dongmen in Luohu.
Hosted by the Shenzhen Yihua Fine Art Institution, and organized by the Shuibei, Hubei, Xiangxi and Sailong companies, the exhibition includes works by artists including Zhang Yuelun, Wen Zhenfei, Fang Xiaolong, Yang Daming and Yan Qing.
The pictures are all about the Dongmen area, known as the cradle of Shenzhen, as it is in this place where Shenzhen Xu was firstly formed in history, and it is also in this place where the Shenzhen township was firstly founded in 1931.
It used to be one of the four famous villages in South China, the others being Chencun, Foshan and Shilong.
As Shenzhen city is exploring its historical roots, the Dongmen area, now a pedestrian street, is the place no Shenzhen history researchers can afford to ignore.

The paintings appearing in the exhibition are about historical changes in the area. Some of the painters, such as Zhang Yuelun, were born and grew up in the area, so they can offer a first-hand witness to the fundamental changes it has undergone.
It is hoped the fine art exhibition can help deepen viewers' understanding of the Dongmen area, and the past of Shenzhen.
