City decorated for Spring Festival
Big red lanterns can be seen along all the avenues in Shenzhen.
The city of Shenzhen is gearing up to prepare for the Spring Festival falling on Feb. 12 this year.
Big red lanterns can be seen along all the avenues; even trees around public squares are decorated with strings of small red lanterns.
Statistics from the municipal urban management and law enforcement authority reveal a total of 143,000 lanterns and 652 Chinese knots have been hung from lamp posts and pedestrian overpasses.
An 8.5-kilometer flower belt which looks like a flying phoenix stretches along Shennan Avenue. Sculptures composed of various flowers have been erected at Shenzhen Railway Station and main theaters.
More than 25,000 lanterns and about 31,000 square meters of flower belts have been laid out at parks.
Despite the festive atmosphere, citizens are advised to visit parks and other public places wearing masks and avoid gathering in groups.
