Luohu responds quickly to new HK COVID-19 case
As of the early hours of July 27, 2,343 samples had been obtained from residents, and a further 318 samples were collected later that morning.
The residents of Panshan Garden Community in Shenzhen's Luohu District all received nucleic acid tests hours after the Centre for Health Protection in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region reported on July 26 that a truck driver from the region surnamed Zhu who had stayed in the community was confirmed as having the coronavirus.
The Luohu public health department also quarantined those living in the building which Zhu stayed, and disinfected all public areas within the community.
As of the early hours of the next day, 2,343 samples had been obtained from residents, and a further 318 samples were collected later that morning. All of the samples came back negative.
In addition, all three of the residents identified as having had close contact with Zhu also tested negative.
The Luohu Center for Diseases Prevention and Control is now collecting and testing samples from in and around the community.
One resident surnamed Feng, who received the nucleic acid test notice from the property management company in the community's WeChat group at midnight, had his sample taken at 1 a.m.
Feng said: “The response has been quick and well organized, and the residents have been very cooperative. With the strong backing of the government, there hasn't been any panic.”
Local residents explained that the supply of everyday goods is reliable and the government is acting quickly, so there is no need to worry.
