Luohu upgrades shopping experience with instant tax refunds

From May 1 to June 2, Luohu District is hosting a Tax Refund Shopping Carnival, offering tourists an enhanced shopping experience featuring instant cash tax refunds and a variety of exclusive deals.
Luohu currently leads the city in tax refund store count, with 97 of Shenzhen's 409 eligible merchants located in the district—accounting for 23.7%. In December 2023, Shenzhen's first centralized instant refund point opened at Luohu MixC, with 23 participating stores offering "buy now, refund now" services. Today, 52 of the city's 75 instant refund stores are in Luohu, representing 69.3% of the total.
On April 27, Shenzhen became the first city in China to implement the "one transaction, one package" model for departure tax refunds. Three major shopping areas—Shenzhen Bay MixC, Luohu MixC, and Kingglory Plaza—are piloting the initiative, aimed at stimulating domestic demand and improving the convenience of inbound tourism shopping.
With the most land ports and highest cross-border traffic in Shenzhen, Luohu plays a pivotal role in the city's trade and tourism. In 2024, Luohu's three ports—Luohu, Wenjindu, and Liantang—handled over 91.2 million crossings, nearly half of the total between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Capitalizing on this advantage, Luohu is fast-tracking the rollout of departure tax refund services.
According to a MixC Mall representative, visitors from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other overseas regions can receive up to 9% tax refunds, processed quickly and paid out in cash on the spot.
