Luohu advances green and low-carbon industry development

Over the past two years, Luohu has achieved significant progress in advancing its green and low-carbon industries. By 2024, the number of enterprises in this sector exceeded 100, doubling since early 2022 and maintaining double-digit growth for three consecutive years. The sector's contribution to the district's added value in strategic emerging industries also increased significantly, rising from 13% in early 2022 to 20% in 2023.
A notable achievement in this journey has been the establishment of a green development-oriented gross ecosystem product (GEP) evaluation system. In 2022, Luohu led the city by releasing its first work plan aimed at enhancing GEP, setting a benchmark for ecological progress and sustainable development.
In sustainable construction, Luohu has set high standards and achieved large-scale implementation. Newly built hospitals and schools predominantly meet the three-star rating under green building standards, while all new commercial buildings comply with the two-star rating. The Sungang-Qingshuihe area has emerged as a hub for high-star-rated green buildings, reflecting Luohu’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
Looking ahead, Luohu will continue to pursue the objectives outlined in its three-year action plan to establish itself as a pioneering low-carbon urban area. The district plans to expand the scale of its green and low-carbon industries, enhance growth potential, and strengthen core competitiveness. These initiatives are part of a broader vision to achieve a comprehensive green transformation across Luohu's economic and social development sectors.
