Shenzhen launches first land border departure tax refund pilot in Luohu
Shenzhen is preparing to unveil its first land border departure tax refund pilot at Wenjindu Port in the Luohu district, representing a significant step in enhancing services for departing travelers. The pilot program integrates customs verification with tax refund banking services, providing a seamless experience for international tourists and improving their shopping convenience.
The tax refund facilities at Wenjindu Port are nearing completion, with the primary construction and interior design already finalized. Once operational, travelers will be able to complete the entire tax refund process at a single location after passing customs inspection.
While Shenzhen currently offers departure tax refund services at Bao’an International Airport and Shekou Cruise Homeport, the majority of travelers use land ports for border crossings. This discrepancy between service locations and traveler distribution has underscored the need to extend tax refund services to land ports. The Wenjindu Port pilot is expected to address this gap, enhance the shopping experience for visitors, and boost the commercial appeal of the surrounding area.
