Rise in HK visitors boosts Shenzhen consumption
Since the full resumption of Shenzhen-Hong Kong ports on Feb. 6, Shenzhen has witnessed a consistently high level of passenger flow, especially over this year’s summer vacation.
Li Yizhang, a Shenzhen customs officer, revealed that since August, the number of exit-entry visits through the Shenzhen-Hong Kong ports has exceeded 11 million, with a daily average of nearly 580,000 visits. Among them, entry passengers from Hong Kong account for around 50%.
Seamless exit-entry procedures, user-friendly online payment systems, and efficient transportation network integration have significantly enhanced the convenience of travel for Hong Kong citizens. For example, the e-CNY hardware wallet card-issuing machine at the Luohu port, the Octopus app, and the temporary convenient financial service stations at Shenzhen ports have all facilitated the payment process for Hong Kong consumers in Shenzhen.
