Luohu lawmakers’ livestreaming program lauded as ‘innovative’
A livestreaming program called “Report to the people on the practices of whole-process people’s democracy,” launched by the Standing Committee of Luohu People’s Congress, the district’s legislature, was recently hailed as a successful case of media innovation in Guangdong province.
The Luohu program was among 12 listed successful cases, according to a report by the Standing Committee Guangdong People’s Congress, the province’s top legislature. The program was aimed at encouraging grassroots legislature to strengthen their connections with the people and get their message across more effectively.
Luohu has already had some successful experience in putting the whole-process people’s democracy into practice while fitting actual conditions. At the same time, it made full use of popular livestreaming platforms to publicize knowledge on how the people’s congress functions.
That proved to be a success, with people demonstrating they were keen to know how they are represented and how they can participate in the process of resolving problems concerning their rights and interests as well as how to help public affairs progress.
