Annual gathering of Luohu's political advisors opens
The third plenary session of the Sixth Luohu Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened on Jan. 9.
Liu Guangmin, chairman of the district's top political advisory body, delivered a work report on behalf of the committee.
Head of Luohu district Fan Defan, who is also deputy secretary of the Luohu Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Zhou Yichuan, chair of the district's legislature, as well as other senior officials of Luohu, attended the meeting, along with the committee members.
Liu reviewed the committee's work over the past year, during which it received 217 proposals, among which 179 were registered as suggestions for the government to improve its work oneconomy, science and technology, culture, urban management, and environmentalprotection.
At the meeting, 12 representatives from democratic parties, the federation of industry and commerce, non-party members, and some other sectors of the committee made speeches detailing their work.
Fan Defan affirmed the committee members' responsibility and actions in focusing on the central task and serving the overall situation of Luohu's development.
Fan pointed out that the speeches made by the committee's representatives were accurate in topic selection, realistic in content, and of high quality. They put forward many insightful, valuable and important opinions and suggestions, which fully reflected the CPPCC members' concern for the overall development situation, people's livelihoods, and sense of responsibility.
Fan urged all government departments to carefully reflect on these suggestions and transform them into workable plans, saying that being open to suggestions is of great significance for Luohu to build itself into a pioneer urban area of socialist modernization and sustainable development.
Fan said Luohu's focus now is on rebooting its economic growth and attracting new investment, talents and companies.
