Luohu implements 'forest chief' system to protect ancient trees and woods
The Luohu bureau of city planning and natural resources recently held a tea party to raise the public's awareness of the protection of ancient trees as well as its newly proposed "forest chief" initiative.
The bureau hopes that more citizens will take part in the protection of forests and ancient trees. The tea party was held in Tianbei village and livestreamed online.
Luohu district now has 138 registered ancient trees. A "forest chief" is usually appointed among civil servants at the level of sub-district office or chosen from volunteers from local residents.
