According to Road Traffic Safety Law of the People s Republic of China, whoever holds an overseas motor vehicle driver license, if they meet the conditions for driving permission as prescribed by the public security institution under the State Council, and assessed by the traffic administrative department of the public security organ to be qualified, can be issued a Chinese motor vehicle driver license.

Ⅰ. How can I apply for the renewal of overseas motor vehicle driver license?

Approach 1: Online application

(1) Enter Vehicle Service Online Application Platform of Shenzhen Municipal Traffic Police Department and enroll, select "駕駛證預(yù)約業(yè)務(wù)(Application for driver license)”-“持境外機(jī)動車駕駛證申請換證(Application for the Renewal of Overseas Motor Vehicle Driver License)”

(2) Enter "深圳公安(Shenzhen Public Security)” WeChat official account, select “交管業(yè)務(wù) (Traffic Management)”-“駕駛證業(yè)務(wù)(driver license)”-“預(yù)約類(Appointment)”-“機(jī)動車駕駛證持境外駕駛證申領(lǐng)(Application for the Renewal of Overseas Motor Vehicle Driver License)”

Approach 2: On-site application

Apply at Comprehensive Acceptance Window, Traffic Police Service Hall of Shenzhen Municipal Administrative Service Hall. (Detailed information of the service hall can be seen in the Appendix.)

Ⅱ. What materials are required for the application for the renewal of overseas motor vehicle driver license?

1. Original identification；

2. Chinese translation of foreign motor vehicle driver license；

3. One-inch white color ID photo;

4. Original foreign motor vehicle driver license；

5. Physical Examination Report issued by a networked hospital above the district level.

Ⅲ. How long is the handling time of the application for the renewal of overseas motor vehicle driver license?

The legal processing time limit is 60 working days, and the promised processing time limit is 1 working day.

Ⅳ. Do I need to take the test if I apply for the renewal of overseas motor vehicle driver license?

Subject 1 shall be tested.

For those who apply for driver licenses for large passenger cars (Al), tractors (A2), city buses (A3), medium passenger cars (Bl), and large trucks (B2), subject 3 shall be tested.

The applicant should finish the tests within 3 years after the acceptance of the Vehicle Management Office.
