The Shenzhen municipal government recently promulgated and implemented the Shenzhen Women's Development Plan (2021-30) and the Shenzhen Children's Development Plan (2021-30).
The new plans integrate the development of women and children into the overall layout of Shenzhen's urban development, adhere to the principles of promoting gender equality and women's all-round development, and giving priority to children, and set goals and tasks for the development of women and children over the next 10 years.
The Women's Development Plan puts forward that by 2030, Shenzhen should have improved its institutional mechanisms to promote gender equality, optimized women's participation in public life, and further improved the level of women's development and comprehensive competitiveness.
The Children's Development Plan declares that Shenzhen should carry out children-first and child-friendly development strategies, further improve the system of laws, regulations, and policies ensuring children’s rights, and improve the working mechanism to promote the development of children.
According to the plans, Shenzhen will carry out six women-related projects to make it easier for them to seek medical treatment, participate in scientific and technological innovation, and protect their rights and interests. In addition, the city will also implement six projects related to children to improve their traffic safety, family education conditions, and mental health.
