Shenzhen focuses on six tasks to boost tourism development
Shenzhen released the 14th five-year plan (2021-2025) for tourism development recently. The municipal government said it would focus on six major tasks to improve the city’s tourism industry's competitiveness and build a national tourism demonstration zone and a world-class tourist destination.
According to the plan, Shenzhen aims to build itself into a regional cultural center city radiating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, serving the country and embracing the world. The work includes building itself into a benchmark of public cultural services, a pioneer in the culture and sports tourism industry, a highland of international fashion and creation, an international sports city, a world-class tourist destination, and an international cultural exchange center.
This plan explicitly puts forward the goals of developing Shenzhen's tourism industry. The modern tourism system should be more developed by 2025 and the effective and high-quality tourism supply will be more abundant. Furthermore, the new forms of tourism should be growing rapidly, and the system and mechanism of high-quality tourism development should be more mature.
The six tasks for Shenzhen’s tourism development consist of building a demonstration city of cultural tourism integration, a benchmark city of international coastal tourism, a pioneer city of urban tourism innovation, a leading city of technology-enabled tourism, a hub city of international and domestic tourism, and a model city of tourism consumption services.
