Shenzhen Metro handles 29.33 million trips during 2025 Spring Festival
During the 2025 Spring Festival holiday (Jan. 28–Feb. 4), Shenzhen Metro safely transported 29.33 million passengers across its 18 operational lines, with an average daily ridership of 3.67 million—a 7.9% increase compared to the 2024 Spring Festival period.
To meet the needs of returning travelers and residents staying in the city, Shenzhen Metro implemented comprehensive operational plans, including extended service hours across 23 days before, during, and after the holiday. A dedicated team of 46,000 metro employees carried out 242 maintenance operations, ensuring smooth and safe transit.
On Feb. 5, the first working day after the holiday, Shenzhen’s urban rail network recorded 6.99 million passenger trips, reaching 70% of pre-holiday weekday levels. Ridership is expected to return to normal by Feb. 10.
