Shenzhen reaffirms its position as China’s top industrial city
In 2024, Shenzhen solidified its status as China’s top industrial city, with the total output of industrial enterprises above designated size exceeding 5.4 trillion yuan. The city’s total value added of industrial enterprises above designated size grew by 9.7% year on year, marking three consecutive years of leading the national industrial sector.
This success is driven by Shenzhen’s unwavering commitment to industrial development, economic transformation, and technological innovation. The city continues to focus on upgrading traditional industries, strengthening competitive sectors, and fostering emerging industries, while also making significant investments in future industries and new quality productive forces. These efforts have led to impressive achievements.
In 2024, Shenzhen added 29 new national-level manufacturing enterprises that are champions in their individual categories and 296 "little giant" companies (novel and elite small and medium-sized enterprises that specialize in a niche market, boast cutting-edge technologies, and show great potential)—both ranking first in China for new additions. The city now ranks second nationwide in total numbers for these categories.
The value added of Shenzhen’s strategic emerging industries exceeded 1.5 trillion yuan in 2024, increasing their share of GDP to nearly 45%. The city's industrial investment surged by 20.1% year on year, while high-tech manufacturing investment saw an even greater year-on-year increase of 27.4%.
