Spotlight on Shenzhen in two sessions
During the just-concluded annual sessions of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee, the country’s top political advisory body, many speakers, including some from elsewhere in the country, praised Shenzhen as a trailblazer in reform and opening-up, and more importantly, put forward suggestions on the city’s future higher-quality development.
Shenzhen occupies an important position for its involvement in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the pilot demonstration zone for this program, and the implementation of a series of key and comprehensive pilot reforms.
During the two sessions, many mainstream media outlets in the country reported on Shenzhen’s development achievements, potentials and ambitions.
The lawmakers and political advisers from Shenzhen have made many proposals and suggestions for the city to improve its public services, pro-innovation efforts and social fairness and justice, demonstrating their sense of duties to the city and its citizens.
