Malaysian trade delegation visits Shenzhen to advance $22 billion high-tech park project
On May 6, a Malaysian trade delegation visited Shenzhen to accelerate progress on the China-Malaysia International High-Tech Eco-Industrial Park project, a US$22 billion initiative aimed at deepening bilateral industrial cooperation.
The eight-member delegation met with Shenzhen partners to discuss the project's investment and construction plans. This follows the signing of a major cooperation agreement in April involving key stakeholders from both countries.
The agreement, signed on April 11 in Shenzhen, brings together organizations such as the Shenzhen Government Procurement Association, Shenzhen Industrial Go-Global Alliance, Standard Perpetual Global Fund, and several Malaysian institutions. The goal is to develop two industrial parks in Malaysia, drawing on China's strong supply chain capabilities and Shenzhen's successful industrial park experience. The parks are expected to serve as a model for overseas industrial development led by Shenzhen enterprises.
During the visit, the delegation reached consensus with the Shenzhen Government Procurement Association on funding strategies, implementation stages, and project operations. Both sides are now drafting preferential policies tailored to the parks, including land provision, tax incentives, customs facilitation, and industry support. Key deliverables such as the incentive policy list and halal certification guidelines are expected by mid-May, with project groundwork in Kedah to begin by the end of the month.
The delegation also visited the Shuibei jewelry district and the Shenzhen Jewelry Museum in Luohu. Luohu District has pledged to provide quality space, supportive policies, and professional services to support the project.
