Shenzhen’s first Hong Kong-style port hospital opens at Luohu checkpoint
On Wednesday, Shenzhen’s first Hong Kong-style port-based comprehensive hospital, C-MER Aikangjian Hospital, officially opened at the Luohu Checkpoint. The project, a collaboration between Hong Kong C-MER International Medical Group and the Luohu District Government, marks a significant milestone in Shenzhen-Hong Kong medical cooperation.
It aims to advance medical services and connectivity in drugs and devices, talent, and data between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, offering high-quality, cost-effective medical services to residents of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and the Greater Bay Area.
The hospital currently offers a range of specialties, including dentistry, ophthalmology, medical imaging, chronic disease management, traditional Chinese medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. The hospital is gradually evolving into a comprehensive medical platform covering general and specialized care. By combining the strengths of Hong Kong’s healthcare system with the needs of Shenzhen’s local population, the hospital integrates medical treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation under one roof.
As a leading chain of specialty medical services in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, C-MER Medical Group has consistently championed innovation and internationalization in healthcare since its establishment. To deepen Shenzhen-Hong Kong medical integration and promote the Greater Bay Area’s healthcare unification, the hospital signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) and eight Hong Kong medical institutions. This collaboration aims to establish a diversified cross-border healthcare network offering seamless one-stop services that merge general and specialty care, fostering medical connectivity and resource sharing across the region.
Professor Dennis Lam Shun-Chiu, founder of C-MER Medical Group, emphasized Shenzhen’s role as a global innovation hub and its need for international, innovative healthcare services to meet the demands of local and cross-border residents.
Located at the Luohu Checkpoint and backed by Hong Kong, the hospital introduces internationally aligned medical technologies and management models, assembling Hong Kong and international medical experts and advanced technologies. The goal is to create a new benchmark for cross-border medical collaboration, delivering high-quality services to Greater Bay Area residents.
The Luohu District Government highlighted the hospital’s opening as a new venture in high-end medical services, a breakthrough in Shenzhen-Hong Kong integration in life sciences, and an innovative step toward aligning regulatory frameworks. Luohu will continue optimizing the business environment, providing policy support and facilitating the hospital’s growth.
