Starbucks China Innovation and Technology Center to launch in Shenzhen
The Starbucks China Innovation and Technology Center (SITC) will be launched in Futian district, Shenzhen, in September with an initial investment of 1.5 billion yuan (about $205 million) in the next three years.
Wang Jingying, chairman and CEO of Starbucks China, said that the SITC would promote enterprises’ digital innovation and the creation of new scenarios through big data, insight analysis, and other technologies.
Along with the founding of the SITC, a Starbucks China Coffee Innovation Industrial Park, which features green roasting and intelligent logistics, will also go into operation.
Noting that the confidence in Shenzhen’s market prospects and business environment is the main reason for situating the SITC in Futian, Wang Jingying revealed that Starbucks plans to open more green and innovative stores with the help of advanced digital technologies.
Futian has 71 coffee brands, over 1,300 coffee shops, and eight coffee shops per 10,000 people, making it a high-density area for coffee shops.
