Shenzhen-Liege cargo air route launched
On Feb. 24, the Shenzhen-Liege cargo route was put into operation, the third international cargo route and another cross-border e-commerce air freight line opened by Shenzhen Airport this year.
Launched by Ethiopian Airlines, the route connects Shenzhen Airport and Liege Airport in Belgium, two major gateways for cross-border e-commerce between China and Europe.
Two shifts per week have been arranged in the initial stage, with a total weekly outbound capacity of more than 180 tons, mainly transporting industrial and e-commerce goods from Shenzhen.
It is believed that the opening of this air line for cross-border e-commerce will further promote the coordinated development of cross-border e-commerce and cross-border logistics between China and the EU and promote the high-quality development of China-EU economic and trade exchanges and the cross-border e-commerce industry.
By the end of February, Shenzhen Airport had opened three new international cargo routes, including to London, Paris, and Liege. The airport’s international and regional cargo routes reached 35, connecting Shenzhen with 23 countries and regions around the world, while its domestic and foreign cargo routes increased to 57.
Shenzhen Airport handled 103,800 tons of cargo in February, up 17.76% year on year. The cargo was composed of 51,000 tons of domestic cargo, a year-on-year increase of 20.66%, while international and regional cargo reached 53,000 tons, up 15.1% year on year, according to the airport.
Over the first two months of 2023, the airport’s cargo throughput hit 207,000 tons, of which international and regional cargo volume increased by 6.6% year on year, and the volume of imported cold chain fresh goods increased by 29% year on year.
