Shenzhen aims to become global leader in industrial design
The 10th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Fair kicked off at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Dec. 17.
More than 6,000 exhibits provided by more than 300 exhibitors from China, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Italy, Denmark, Turkey and other countries and regions were displayed online and offline.
Zheng Hongbo, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Shenzhen Municipal Committee, said that industrial design is not only the starting point of the innovation chain and the value chain, but also a driver of high-quality development that can enhance product value and industrial competitiveness.
Zheng pointed out that Shenzhen will continuously improve its industrial design, polish the brand of Shenzhen design, use design to shape the new advantages of the manufacturing industry, and speed up the building of a city of innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity with global influence.
There are 1,442 industrial design enterprises and 150,000 designers in Shenzhen. There are also 13 national industrial design centers and 114 provincial industrial design centers here. The city has won 1,825 iF Design awards and 1,176 Red Dot awards, ranking first in China for 11 consecutive years.
The Shenzhen Declaration on Global Design was released at the fair, demonstrating Shenzhen's determination to become a leader in industrial design.
