First direct freight train between Shenzhen and Suzhou opens
The first freight train connecting Pinghu South Railway Logistics Park in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, and Taicang Port of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, pulled out of Shenzhen on Nov. 20.
It takes about two days for the train to reach the port in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta region, marking the commencement of the first direct regular freight train services connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the other dynamic economic engine of the country.
Transporting primary life necessities, the services are expected to assume an essential role in sustaining the stability of the supply chains in the two regions and those along the railway.
The railway department will adjust the operating frequency according to market demand.
